Toelichting / Explanation Dorian Renard - It came from this fascination for glass and looking at the craftsmen employing their knowledge into this ever changing material struck me, I wanted to look at plastic with the same admiration.
By developing subversive use of crafting techniques, I start to explore, translate some glass blowing techniques into this new material.
The idea was to confront the plastic to a new notion of beauty, one that is alluringly twist and bent instead of being industrially morose.
From hand blown tubes to distorted acrylic sheets, the objects oscillates between functional and sculptural purpose.
